In 1525, the Peasants' Wars shook Germany, Switzerland and Tyrol. The special exhibition aims to make this turbulent but fascinating time visible and audible in one place. The setting is not a battlefield, but a central public place: the inn. It was always an important meeting place for all social classes and a hub for opinions and rumours.
The Folklore Museum in Dietenheim near Bruneck shows the environment of the everyday life of rural population of the past – from the landed gentry and the self-sustaining peasantry to the day labourers. The centrepiece is the baroque Mair am Hof residence with its stately rooms and ethnological collections.
The open-air site containing old, original farmhouses, craft workshops, farm gardens and domestic animals invites visitors to stay and recounts the everyday life of earlier times. Visitors can experience history at events, theme days and craft demonstrations.
The e-bike charging station in the museum offers the opportunity to conveniently charge your own e-bike. The charging cable must be brought along. A repair kit including an air pump completes the service station. This service is offered free of charge.
